The rich shoppers are spending with no bounds this festive season. Recently, we have told you about the $1,000 sundae created by Serendipity 3, an upscale New York restaurant, which was served to a 12 year old boy celebrating his birthday at the restaurant on November 19th. And, now the world’s most expensive dessert, which we had featured previously, has finally found a buyer in Mr. Carl Weininger, from Rugby, UK. Celebrating his 60th birthday on December 5, 2011, Mr. Weininger decided to splurge on his special day celebrations, in indulging in what is known as the most expensive dessert in the world, and will also be on display for a charity ball aimed at benefiting the disabled citizens of the country like him.
Shaped like an Easter egg, the dessert is known to have multi-layered structure with champagne jelly, biscuit joconde, and the final layer being dark chocolate. The overall dessert is finally cloaked by a leaf of edible gold. If that doesn’t do it, we are also told that there is a 2-carat diamond placed on the dessert adding to the real ‘bling’ value of what many have testified to being totally delicious along the way. The lucky buyer of this delicacy, Mr. Weininger defines his experience mentioning,
“I am an impulsive sort of person and when I heard about the dessert on TV it stuck in my mind. Buying the dessert has been a real boost for my morale and it’s helped to promote the charity Aerobility which gives disabled adults like me and children the opportunity to take to the skies and fly”.The special food item was unveiled at the Lindeth Howe Country Hotel in Windermere, and the person who created this unique dessert, is Chef Mark Guilbert. Due to his efforts, this food item will now take its place in the Guinness Book of World Records, as it already has been purchased by a customer.
However, this wasn’t the only occasion when rich foodies got a chance at expensive delicacies. Andrew Stellitano had designed what is now being called the world’s most expensive mince pie. Looks like the 2011 Christmas isn’t going to be complete without some amount of bling involved.
