Eric Coudray unveils Cabestan Trapezium vertical timepiece defies the laws of geometry

From all the watches that we have shown you till date, there have been some which have carried forward some commonalities in their designing such as the shapes, and even fabrics. One of them is the Cabestan brand that has used vertically rectangular shapes to set their watches apart. Their latest creation is the Trapezium timepiece, which carries the shape of a trapezium, and plays with geometrical formations in the world of haute horology. Elegantly tilted towards the wearer, and perfection in symmetry, this timepiece carries every bit the styling essence of the brand, and was recently unveiled by Eric Coudray, Cabestan’s master watch designer.

Caged in a high grade Titanium casing, the watches uses clearly legible contrastic colored cylinders to denote and explain the multiple facets of time. Exposing the complicated EC101 mechanical movement skeleton, the hours, minutes, and seconds are on constant display 3 cylinders, along with the 72-hour power reserve corner. Between the cylinders, there are verticals divisions which give each cylinder greater legibility, as well expose the skeleton more aesthetically. The side crowns on the upper left and right hand side are meant for recharging the power reserve, along with the settings for the time. The covering is done with the help of sapphire crystals, which are known to anti-reflective and resistant against most external damages such as scratches. The individual numberings of the series of 135 pieces that this watch runs into, is engraved on the case back. Finally, the strapping is done by leather but options would be available for different fabrics, which would have a contrastic light colored interior. Casing options would include brush polished titanium red, brushed polished titanium white, Black PVD frontier with polished titanium, and the black PVD titanium with rose gold (displayed below).

Technically speaking, the EC101 mechanical movement has 789 components, many of which are jewels handcrafted and set individually to lend support to the tourbillon. Some of the mentionable parts include the hairspring with brequet overcoil and Geneva stud, 160mm long steel chain with 235 links and 156 rivets which are known to provide support to the tourbillon. The vibration rate for the mechanism is pegged at 21,600 per hour.
Since we had earlier talked about previous examples from Cabestan, we suggest taking a glance at the Nostromo, Sol Invictus (solar powered watch), and the Scuderia Ferrari watches. Symmetry and horological engineering blend perfectly into this master wrist watches.
