One of America’s oldest mail-order retailers, Orvis, teams up with equally impressive, Timeless Travel Trailers, to restore a yesteryear classic into a modern day heavyweight. Orvis has chosen the Denver-based Timeless to fully customize a vintage 1954 Airstream Flying Cloud trailer. The prospects which already sound very interesting have been given a totally new dimension asOrvis plans to auction this new-age vintage with bids starting at $75,000 and can fetch a maximum of $450,000. If you wish to own this vintage Airstream travel trailer from the classic 50's, you’ll have to end up as the highest bidder with the estimates ranging from $150k to $450k.
The Airstream which originally served as hunting and fishing lodge near Goose Lake, Oregon has been revamped from top to toe in Timeless’ facility in Denver, Colorado. Here the trailer was stripped to the bare shell and was redesigned completely by the company’s craftsmen.
The trailer retains its vintage look but boasts all the modern and luxurious amenities, like an HDTV and a Blu-Ray DVD player, once inside the cabin. The gleaming hand-polished exterior makes this trailer truly unique and a head-turner all the way. Woodwork literally flows through the cabin which makes liberal use of natural hickory wood and features aged oak flooring. The fine lines and curves are broken only by copper sheets and genuine leather upholstery. This modern-day classic has been fitted with a brand new running gear which includes a new axle, brakes, suspension, wheels, tires, and coupler. All the systems, be it primary or subsidiary, have been tweaked to meet, if not exceed, the highest standards of safety and functionality. Provisions have also been made for upgrading this already impressive trailer with air conditioning.
