The best places for ice cream in London

Morelli’s Gelato

87-135 Brompton Road, Knightsbridge, SW7 0
020 7893 8295

Headed for Harrods? Don’t miss Morelli’s Italian style ice cream, which is on sale in the food hall. With 20 flavours to choose from, you should be able to find something to tickle your taste buds, but if none take your fancy there’s a bespoke ice cream service. Flavours created so far include cappuccino and croissants and, err, beans on toast – guess we just have to trust them on that one.

Marine Ices

8 Haverstock Hill, NW3
020 7482 9003

Is this the best ice cream in London? We think so and, judging by the length of the queues, it seems we’re not the only ones. This family run restaurant has been serving a great selection of ice creams (try the toffee crunch and maple and walnut), in addition to sorbets such as mango and melon, since 1928.

Fouberts

2 Turnham Green Terrace, Turnham Green, W4 1QP

020 8994 5202

Tucked into the bottom of a Chiswick townhouse, Foubert’s never fails to disappoint when it comes to the cold stuff. Beloved by media types (the BBC is but a stone’s throw away), Fouberts is famed for its coffee, cherry and zingy lemon flavours - and super generous scoops.

Oddono’s

14 Bute Street, South Kensington, SW7 3EX

020 7052 0732

Oddono’s has a kiosk in the sumptuous shopping Mecca that is Selfridges as well as one in Whiteleys, but it’s the standalone store in South Ken that gets our vote. Staff are friendly, not frosty, and serve scoops of Sicilian pistachio and bacio with a smile. Ice cream can be taken away or consumed onsite, at one of the two lovely outdoor tables.

Gelateria Valerie

9 Duke of York Square, Chelsea, SW3 4LY

020 7730 7978

http://www.patisserie-valerie.co.uk/

This Chelsea Gelateria offers a range of fabulous flavours: think blueberry, Irish cream, after-dinner mint and tiramisu, to name but a few. Enjoy your gelato outside under one of the bright blue umbrellas or take a seat inside on a swivel stool.
If the gelati doesn’t appeal (maybe you’re from Mars or something), there’s also an array of ice-cream sundaes starting from £6.70.
