{guest post: braving the cold}

{written by kjg for this is glamorous:}

Several winters ago, I decided that one way to beat the onset of Seasonal Affectiveness Disorder was to purchase the most beautiful winter coat I could find. Unfortunately, I never found it, so my search continued the following year.

I must have tried on over 70 winter coats over those two years, but the search ended abruptly once I discovered Mackage, the fashion outerwear label by childhood friends Eran Elfassy and Elisa Dohan from Montreal. I chose the quintessential Mackage coat: double-breasted, military-inspired black wool with leather belt and detailing. It fit perfectly and had the kind of attention to detail that makes Mackage stand out from the sea of wool coats.

Mackage makes couture-inspired, body-conscious outerwear with precise tailoring and an artistic, youthful edge. Elfassy and Dohan were only 20 years old when they launched their first collection of chic outerwear to a receptive, international audience. Their success has led to showrooms opening in Toronto, New York and Paris. Season after season, Mackage reinvents itself, experimenting with an array of collars, sleeves, accessories and fabrics. Though wool coats make up the majority of their collection, they have expanded their collection to include leather and nylon and, more recently, a knitwear division featuring oversized cardigans, turtlenecks and tube dresses.
