Sexy White Princess Gowns on Oscars Red Carpet

Soft, neutral shades including white, ivory and silvers were favorites of many actresses on the 81 Academy Awards red carpet.
Anne Hathaway, Jennifer Aniston, Penelope Cruz and Sarah Jessica Parker embraced these neutral shades, as they pranced infront of the statues of the Oscars.
In a gown befitting a bride or a fairly tail princess, Sarah Jessica Parker wore a very sexy Christian Dior Haute Couture strapless gown with layers of material gathered at the waist.
The silk tulle corset bustier featured beaded embroidery enhancing Parker's cleavage, a ture OMG moment.

Adding to her look were jewels from Fred Leighton, a clutch by Ferragamo.
The very tight fitting embroidered corset definitely was eye catching and her long curly hair added to this breath-taking outfit at the 81 Academy Awards.
Best Supporting Actress winner Penelope Cruz wore a stunning, off the shoulder, vintage Pierre Balmain on the Oscars red carpet, the dress is probably over 60 years old but it is still a classic.
Cruz is the first Spanish-born actress to win an Oscar.
She accessorized the look with over $3 million in diamonds from Chopard.
Oscar nominee Anne Hathaway was shimmering in a white fish tail gown covered in Swarovski crystals from Armani Prive.

The beaded gown was covered in glimmering paillettes and had a buckle in back.
Hathaway glimmering look was further illuminated by jewelry by Cartier and a clutch by Roger Vivier.
Her gown was similar to the mermaid inspired gown created by Dior and worn by last year by Best Actress winner Marion Cottilard.

Jennifer Aniston wore a silver metallic strapless gown with gold embroidery by Valentino.
Aniston was there to co-present the best animation award with Jack Black.
She was with her boyfriend, Grammy winner John Mayer.
It was the first time they appeared together on the red carpet as a couple.

Ladies in Red at Academy Awards 2008

Red was the favorite color of many of ladies of the red carpet, including Heidi Klum, Anne Hathaway, Katherine Heigl, Miley Ray Cyrus and Jillian Fink Dempsey, among others.
Heidi Klum red silk taffeta bustier gown with drape detail by John Galliano Haute Couture was especially riveting.
The gown had a very royal look to it, sort of the over powering look that a queen from a Disney movie may possess or perhaps the regal empress presiding over Project Runway.

Definitely one of the top gowns on the red carpet.
We understand that the gown will be auctioned off as part of The Heart Truth campaign to raise awareness about women and heart disease.
So if you really want to look regal and have Heidi figure, you may want to bid on this gown.

Anne Hathaway also picked a red gown by Marchesa.
The one shoulder strap gown featured an elegant rose design on the single shoulder strap.
Hathaway was accompanied by her tall, dark and handsome boyfriend Raffaello Follieri and was there to present the Best Animated Feature category.
Red was also the choice of Katherine Heigl.
Katherine Heigl wore a form fitting tight red silk georgette Escada column gown with one shoulder strap and draped and pleated bodice.
Patrick Dempsey wore a slim lapel tuxedo by Versace, while his wife Jillian Fink Dempsey chose a strapless red Versace gown.
Miley Ray Cyrus, aka Hannah Montana, was also in red.

She choose a bright red Valentino chiffon gown with bow detail and a bronze lizard clutch with Swarovski crystals by Mary Norton and shoes from Sergio Rossi.

The Devil Wears Prada - Final Cut

In yesterday's edition of The Devil Wears Prada, we left Andy Sachs (Anne Hathaway) the unfashionable yet ambitious recent college grade leaving the office of Miranda Priestly, the high fashion priestess and editor of Runway magazine played by Meryl Streep, after interviewing for the position of her personal assistant.
Today, we find that Andy indeed was intriguing enough for Miranda to hire her.
Slowly but surely, Andy develops a fashion sense and becomes one of The Clackers, so named for the sound their mile-high stiletto heels make on the marble floors.

Will Andy become a driven empty shell serving only Miranda and forsaking her own life or will she survive at all.
Well, we not going to tell the full story, however, the reviews are in and they are positive.
Getting back to our original question - is being a personal assistant to a famous fashion editor or celebrity something that appealing to young, educated women?
Well, apparently the answer is yes.
The Devil Wears Prada scored highest with women under 18 years of age with a score of 8.2 out of 10 (123 votes), followed by a 7.6 (368 votes) by women age 18 -29 years.
Overall, the movie scored 7.1 in the 'IMDb ratings (1,399 votes) and scored a 77% rating (115 critics reviews) on Critics Tomatometter on Rotten Tomatoes.
You can see more trailers, wallpaper and icons at The Devil Wears Prada official site.
And, if you always wanted to be a personal assistant to a top fashion editor like Miranda, be sure to take the Fashion 101 quiz on the official site.
Are you fit, are you worthy to be a high fashion editorial assistant, well find out by taking the test.
See, how Miranda will rate your knowledge of high fashion.
By the Way, I took the test and scored an 83%.
Are you better than me, hum?
The Devil Wears Prada - Take One

Andy (Anne Hathaway, left), Miranda Priestly (Meryl Streep) and Emily (Emily Blunt)
I can never figure out why any young, attractive, educated woman would want to be someone personal assistant.
But apparently, from movie stars to top fashion editors, many young women crave the position of personal assistant to the stars.
This is the world, the world of high fashion that the movie The Devil Wears Prada focuses on.

The Devil Wears Prada is based on the best-selling novel of the same name by Lauren Weisberger, who once worked on the staff of Vogue and is said to have based the character of Miranda Priestly on Vogue editor Anna Wintour.
The silver coifed editor of Runway magazine, the bible of the fashion industry, Miranda Priestly is played by Oscar winner Meryl Streep.

From being overly burdensome to just being overbearing, Meryl Streep low-pitched voice and body language convey her commanding dominance of the movie.
As an extremely self-centered and commanding taskmaster, Miranda burns through many personal assistants, until she encounters Andy Sachs, played by Anne Hathaway.
Andy is a recent college grad who has no fashion sense, but who manages to intrigue Miranda by her sheer moxie.
Will Andy land the job as assistant to the top fashion editor at Runway magazine.
Stay tuned, as we continue this saga tomorrow.
