Two long awaited restaurants have just opened their doors next to each other in San Francisco’s Mission District. Tacolicious made its debut over the weekend along with tequila bar Mosto.
After a month of typical restaurant-opening delays, the Mission finally saw the opening of two new restaurants, Tacolicious and Mosto. Debuting next door to one another, the two Mexican-styled eateries are offering various options for your every taco and tequila need.
Tacolicious, which opened at 741 Valencia Street, has a similar menu to the Chestnut Street location, with their famed Shot-And-A-Beer Braised Chicken, traditional carnitas, short-ribs and mole taco options. They also have a good selection of margaritas.
Over at Mosto, there is a limited cocktail selection (margarita, Paloma, one or two non-tequila options) but a heavier focus on tasting tequilas and mezcals by themselves. There will be a sake-style tequila service in five-ounce carafes, allowing a group to taste a variety of tequilas at their table, side-by-side, without having to go back to the bar. Mosto will also offer a small selection of botanas (drinking snacks), including a tamale and a $1.50, Mexico City-style al pastor taco. For decoration, staff members and investors have been asked to contribute something meaningful to them for a ceiling collage. For large parties, there is the option of closing off the skylit back room and Mosto takes reservations for groups of twelve or more.
