3 Videos: Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler Behind The Scenes in Kenya and Watch Kristin Dish On The Non- Reality Of The Hills

We all got to know Kristin Cavallari on MTV’s reality show “Laguna Beach.” After that show ended she moved on to “The Hills” and is now working on many other things.
A lot of times reality stars get a bad rep for being manufactured or for “having it easy.” We asked Kristin to share her opinion on this topic and what she says might be surprising. She shares quite an interesting story about an incident with Stephanie Pratt.

5 Things You Don’t Know About Kristin (Did you know she auditioned for “Glee”?!?)

Ology Interviews Kristin Cavallari

Excerpt from an interview
Kristin did with Sharon Tharp @ Ology
So can you tell us a little bit about how you got involved with ShoeDazzle?
Let's see, I think it was last summer when I had my first design meeting, but they do this thing every month or every couple months with a new celebrity where they donate a huge chunk of the proceeds to their charity. So I was actually in Kenya in March with my charity helping rebuild schools and [saw] where all my money is going. I thought this would be a great way to raise money for my charity. I also love shoes and hope to have my own line someday, so I thought this was a good way to test the waters.
And it's named "Bardot." Did you name them after your dog?
Yeah (laughs). "The Bardot." I did. My dog's name is Bardot, but also I just love Brigitte Bardot so that's where it comes from.
Will we see you return to TV anytime soon?
I'm in the middle of casting a reality show that I'm going to produce, which I'll be on an episode or two, but as far as my own show or anything, no.

Do you ever miss it or are you happy that it's all over? Having cameras constantly following you must be a pain.
Yeah, they weren't a pain. I mean, we only shot three days a week for a few hours a day, so it was really easy. What I miss is that you become such a family with the cast and crew. That's what I miss. I don't miss the headaches that came with The Hills with the tabloid world and everyone thinking that was my real life.
Are people surprised you're getting married? Because it seems people only know single Kristin.
Well, everyone thinks they know single Kristin. But yeah, I know a lot of people were shocked. It's funny. I always said I was going to be the first out of my friends or the last to get married (laughs). But you know, the thing is, I'm really happy. I'm the happiest I've ever been. My friends and family see it and everyone's really happy for me.

That's great. Yeah, I don't really watch football, but it seems like Jay Cutler has this reputation as being a douche. Thoughts on that?
Yeah, I mean, people don't know him. Jay would rather play football and call it a day and not have to do press and all that stuff, which I completely understand. And I think he can be shy, so maybe sometimes he just comes across as that, but he's a really great guy -- a very down-to-earth, loyal guy. You can't judge someone off their image. I have to deal with that everyday. People think I'm this bitch just because of a character I played on a TV show. TV is not real. Nothing is real on TV. When people can finally understand that, they'll accept that I'm not this huge bitch. So you know, it is what it is. It comes with the territory. No matter what you do, you can't please everybody. So you just kind of have to laugh about it and let it roll off your shoulders.
Would you say Laguna Beach was a better representation of the real you as opposed to The Hills?
No. The only difference was that Laguna Beach was more of the producers messing with us and editing us and making us look a certain way. And with The Hills, I knew what I was getting into so when I came on board, I was like "Listen, I'll do whatever you guys want, just fill me in. I'm game to do whatever." So I was in on everything and it made it more fun for me.

Do you want to do more acting?
Not really. I just really want to produce this reality show and then just be behind the camera for a little bit. And I really want to have just a normal life. You know, be a wife (laughs).
Definitely. And one last question. I have to ask you, is this rumor about Justin Bobby and Holly Montag hooking up for real?
Oh, I have no idea. This is the first I'm hearing about it.

From The Hills to the African desert: Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler take a charitable trip to Kenya

The Hills' Kristin Cavallari has swapped her glamorous L.A lifestyle to lend her hand to charity.
Using her star power, the 24-year-old reality star travelled to Africa last month with her NFL boyfriend Jay Cutler, 27, for her charity, One Kid World.
Her trip to Kenya was to rebuild two different schools, bring school supplies,
In recently released pictures of the philanthropic trip, Jay and Kristin are seen connecting with African children at the school.
The touching images show the couple interacting with the youths and working hard at the important task at hand.
Kristin spent most of the time distributing specially made packs with supplies in the classrooms at the school.

She handed out envelopes and letter writing materials, so the African children could write to other kids at a Los Angeles school.
She also stopped to chat with the youths who happily smiled and posed with the reality star.
The stunning images showed a gentle side to the reality star, who is known for her boisterous persona.
Dressed in a grey 'Charity One World' t-shirt, a simple pair of cargo pants and a pair of sneakers, Kristin was beaming throughout the day.
Before she left for the trip, Kristin tweeted to her fans about how excited she was to help.

'So excited for kenya with my charity @onekidworld@' she wrote.
Since becoming a more well-known name, Kristin has been using her star power to help a number of causes.
Her other charitable deeds include appearing in the 'Until There's a Cure' public service advertising campaign to raise awareness and funds for AIDS and HIV research and vaccine development.
She also appeared in campaigns for PETA, and as a celebrity spokesperson for 'We Are Ellis Island', a campaign for the restoration of historic buildings on Ellis Island.

In February 2009, she posed for the NOH8 Campaign in support of gay marriage.
Throughout most of her time at the African school, Kristin had her Chicago Bears quarterback beau Jay at her side, who was also busy chatting with the children.
Kristin and Jay were later given tokens of appreciation by members of a Kenyan tribe.
The charitable overseas jaunt is just another sign that the couple's relationship is going from strength to strength.

Based in Los Angeles, Kristin spends an increasing amount of time in the windy city to be close to Jay.
They met in August last year and became inseparable almost instantly.
Back in January, while celebrating her birthday, Kristin revealed that the pair are very much in love.
'I'm just enjoying my personal life and taking a little time away from the public eye, which is why Chicago is great for me,' she told People Magazine at the time.
'My mom and that whole side of the family is there. And Jay is there. It's nice to be able to hang out with my mom, and, you know, I'm in love and it's been great.'

Kristin Cavallari & Jay Cutler's Trip to Kenya

excerpt of an article by Sean Jensen
Oftentimes, wrapped up in the busyness of one’s own life, a person’s perspective might need to be reset.
That happened constantly during Bears quarterback Jay Cutler’s two-week trip last month to Kenya with the non-profit OneKid OneWorld , including on a visit to the small town of Wamba in the Rift Valley that had been without water for 2½ months. Locals are forced to travel long distances — often by walking — to get the precious resource, and many get sick from drinking contaminated water.
‘‘It cost us $300 to provide for water for a few months,’’ Cutler said before pausing for a moment.
‘‘After all the turmoil we go through here, everyone thinks we have so many problems. But to see what they have to deal with and to see how grateful they are to have water is just amazing.’’
‘‘I’ve never been to Africa,’’ Cutler said. ‘‘You see it on TV, but until you’re there and you see it with your own eyes, you have no idea.
‘‘It was an amazing experience to see what they have to go through. It puts a lot of things in perspective for you.’’
Toward the end of the 2010 season, Cutler talked to his girlfriend, Kristin Cavallari, about the trip to Kenya with OneKid OneWorld. But he didn’t get serious until he headed to Los Angeles after the Bears’ season ended in the NFC title game at Soldier Field.

Established in 2006, OneKid OneWorld is a modest but growing non-profit that’s proud to have funneled 95 percent of the $450,000 it has raised to benefit students and teachers in El Salvador and Kenya.
Cutler marveled at the spirit of the students he interacted with, and he marveled at the challenges they face in even going to class because of family obligations.
‘‘They have 1,000 reasons not to go to school,’’ Cutler said. ‘‘But you could tell how grateful they were for the opportunity.’’
Cutler and Cavallari encouraged students to pursue any career they desired, played assorted sports with them and painted classrooms and murals.
Cutler is torn about his approach toward community relations. Fiercely private, he would prefer to donate his money and his time without fanfare or media coverage, as he did when he handed out Christmas gifts to patients at the University of Chicago Comer Children’s Hospital in December.
But he also recognizes the importance of raising funds and awareness, particularly because he has the Jay Cutler Foundation, which is dedicated to underprivileged children and those suffering from diabetes.

‘‘I want to give back as much as possible,’’ Cutler said. ‘‘I understand you want to bring as much publicity as possible; that’s how you raise money. At the same time, you have to do it for the right reasons.”
OneKid OneWorld isn’t trying to attach itself to any and every celebrity, but it welcomes the support of Cavallari and Cutler.
‘For us, we do what we do,’’ said Tracy McCubbin, the co-executive director of OneKid OneWorld. ‘‘We will do it whether there are celebrities or not. But they were there, and I will start crying if I start to talk about what kind of impact they can have.”

Kristin Cavallari Talks Philanthropy

Many of us know her from one of MTV’s most successful television shows, “The Hills,” but it’s off screen where Kristin is really able to show her true colors. Even in the hectic world of Hollywood, K-Cav makes a point to give back and donate her time to organizations and causes dear to her heart. Whether it’s appearing in an ad for Peta, supporting marriage equality, or raising AIDS awareness, Kristin is all about doing her part. Recently, the charismatic blonde beauty traveled to El Salvador with children’s charity “One Kid, One World,” where she did more than just get her hands dirty.
You are ambassador of children’s charity “One Kid, One World” and are extremely passionate about this organization. For those who aren’t familiar with it can you tell us a little about it?
KC: One Kid One World focuses on rebuilding schools and bringing in everything the schools needs from text books to soccer balls to paying for teachers salaries in El Salvador and Kenya. Kids get in trouble when they’re not in school so we try to make school an enjoyable place for them to go.
Earlier this year you traveled to El Salvador with “One Kid, One World.” What did taking this trip mean to you?
KC: Going to El Salvador this past year was an amazing experience. It puts your life into perspective and makes you appreciate all you have. In America we don’t think twice about going to school, but children in different countries are never provided the opportunities were accustomed to.
We all know Hollywood is a world of it’s own – what was it like stepping outside of that bubble and into a world entirely different like El Salvador?
It’s always enjoyable to step outside of Hollywood and see how other people live. I love seeing other cultures.
What do you hope to accomplish with/for “One Kid, One World?”
KC: What I hope to accomplish with One Kid One World is just to hopefully put a smile on kids faces and give them opportunities with education that they might not have had otherwise. …And doing it “one kid at a time.”
With so much negativity in the media, how do you stay so motivated to do positive things?
KC: I try not to focus on the negative, but times like these are when we need positive reinforcement the most.
Just last week you went to an elementary school in Inglewood, CA on behalf of “One Kid, One World.” What did you do at the school and why was it important for you to be there?
KC: I was at the elementary school in Inglewood to help them write their penpal letters to kids in Kenya. We’re planning a trip this spring, so we will bring backpacks over filled with school supplies from the Inglewood kids to the kids in Kenya.
